Using Sodick’s original water-soluble dielectric fluid VITOL-KS developed for high-speed drilling, K1C drills holes with pipe electrodes Φ0.25 to 3.0 mmwithin a matter of seconds.  The machine is capable of drilling a wide variety of materials from difficult-to-cut materials to aluminum and other non-metal materials (material: SKD11, thickness: 20 mm, electrode diameter: Φ0.8 mm, drilling time: 20 sec.).

  High-rigidity Cu-W pipe electrodes are best suited to drill small holes Φ0.5 mm or less.  The Cu-W pipe electrodes wear far less than Cu electrodes do when used for ultra-hard metals, minimizing the fluctuation of hole diameters at the entry and exit.
